HUZZAH... I'm not sure if it was the Comics Gnome or an really nice turn of fate... my mother, "the Techno geek" is getting a Nintendo Wii for her birthday this coming Friday. At first I was a little skeptical about the system because most of the games seem targeted at kids, but after thorough demo I am extraordinarily impressed. Not only that games are ridiculously affordable but FUN FUN FUN. I'm excited!

Yes Sully, that is correct. I folded up my MySpace account, and tossed it in the ol' virtual circular file.

I sympathise with your position, and I once felt the same way... I thought, "I have a MySpace account. What good could come from having Facebook too? I don't want to be one of those social networking junkies."

Well, it turns out that I got an invitation from a friend to check it out, and in a moment of weakness, I accepted. Frankly, I was a bit blown away by the sheer number of people that I care about who use it, and by the near-total absence of people I don't know trying to send me spam invitations or solicitations to visit their private adult webcam sites. In short, Facebook had all of the things I wanted in a social networking site, like up-to-date information about people I want to keep in touch with, without any of the crap in MySpace that made me leery about joining.

A co-worker who is hip to such things tells me that Facebook is a social networking site for adults and college-aged people who want to keep in touch with friends, while MySpace is a social networking site geared toward high school kids and people trying to find one-night stands. I tend to agree with that assessment.

The only thing I miss about it is interacting the few people like yourself who are holdouts. I don't begrudge you not wanting to join Facebook, but I don't believe that choosing MySpace over Facebook is a good call. I think you're missing out.

That aside, you of all poeple should "come to the island". Jill and I NetFlixed the first disk of LOST season 1, and were immediately hooked. We didn't watch anything else until we were caught up. I firmly believe it's among the very best things I've ever seen on television. Having seen both, I prefer it to BSG.

I'm not going to tell you about the numbers.
